Croydon Hockey Club

Michelle is new to Croydon and a welcome addition indeed. It hasn't taken us long to get to know Chelle and it hasn't taken her long to stamp her authority on the pitch! Like Angelina, Chelle is hard as nails (well she is a DIY fanatic anyway) and just like Angelina's character.... Kung Fu Panda.....you just don't mess with the Kay!
This ex army gal has a penchant for the older guy just like Angelina and she is fortunate indeed to have her very own Brad at home.... when are we coming for dinner?!?!?...
They do differ though.. oh yes... Chelle loves nothing more than eating out and is particularly partial to an Indian, Angelina on the other hand sways more towards Cambodian........ maybe a nice Vietnamese........;o) Welcome Chelle!

The original Dido was the queen of ancient Carthage. She was also known as Elissa, which got quite confusing! Just like her, Lisa answers (sometimes) to several names, these include Lili or Number 1 Supporter. Like the modern Dido, Lili likes her music and is often seen spinning across the dance floor long after the rest of us have sat down. Lili can be seen on Saturday afternoons on pitches all across Surrey striding along the touch line, yelling "come on Croydon" and when we're tired or feeling a bit down, she can be relied on to shout something encouraging too.
Lili can often be found in the bar afterwards, and only if you ask her, for she is far too polite, will she give you a very interesting and intelligent view of the game. If you really get her going, she may emphasise her point by punching her fist into her Palm! Try it..
We're a privileged bunch at Croydon to have such a loyal club member!

LBell (aliases LaBelle, Lisa, Chalky or Lisa Chalk) like Jennifer married in 2005 and just like Jennifer, LBell has insisted on keeping her maiden name so we don't become confused........
LBell is a tenacious hockey player and makes friends easily on the hockey pitch. Just like Jennifer, LBell also has a fan club... formed by her biggest fans at Reigate HC.
The likenesses don't stop there, oh no, you won't find a better person on the pitch to challenge injustices and stand firm before evil wrongdoers. ELEKTRA and Agent Sydney would be proud!
If we run short of chocolate LBell is always there with a Yorkie in hand, 'anyone got a tissue?' LBell will always have one and don't worry.... If those nerves get the better of you and you just need to pay a quick visit to the Ladies, LBell will always be on hand to share her toilet roll supply to other nervous hockey players! She is indeed invaluable to Croydon HC!

Sarah, like Kate, regularly battles vampires and werewolves in the Underworld..With Silver studs in her ears and having loaded up on carbs with a hearty garlicky pasta the evening before, Captain Norman stands firm in Defence, a calmer or more determined player would be hard to find. Just like Kate, Sarah is recently married and with her new hubby and trusty 'familiar' Gem in tow she is a force to be reckoned with. Sarah, unlike Kate, has been voted the Player of the Season for the last 2 years so the rest of her faithful followers know the standards they need to achieve to steal that trophy away.
Let the battle commence Captain Norman, we'll be right behind you!

Becky is like Paris in name only......like WHATEVER.....! Becky loves Pink.... Paris loves Pink, Becky is Blonde....eeerrr Paris is Blonde, Becky has Blonde moments.... eeeerrrrrr so does Paris... OMG thats like so incredible!!
However, Bec is a superfit fine hockey playing northern lass, who loves footie, drinking pints and is on 1st name terms with someone called TOM TOM, Paris on the other hand keeps fit by carrying a dog and is on 1st name terms with every Tom, DICK and Harry!
We'll take our Bec any day of the week. Goooooooooooooooo Becky!

Fortunately Sharon is like Ms Stone in name only......although, one could argue that like her namesake, on occasion she can be found in a compromising position with a ball between her legs!
Sharon has learnt her trade well and developed into a mighty fine goalkeeper, her BASIC INSTINCT is to throw herself in front of the ball with determination to keep that sheet clean. And just like her namesake, Sharon is working hard to be a SPECIALIST, LAST ACTION HERO and ensuring we don't have any DIABOLIQUE performances in 09/10.
Sharon can often be found enjoying a John Smiths, Harveys or a Hophead.....similarities indeed with her namesake!

Just like Holly, Dawdles has recently returned to action following the birth of baby Zara and we are glad to see her back! Dawdles and Holly have 2 main similarities……they both have stylish new bobs and both just never stop smiling! Whilst holly presents the Xtra Factor, Dawdles has the X Factor on the pitch, using her height and speed to great advantage when driving the team forward. Dawdles contribution doesn't stop here. As the teams Social Rep she is a very busy lady indeed! She knows she has to keep the alcohol flowing to satisfy our needs and she does just that. Having had a year out Dawdles knows training is key to tip top performance and she has shared her regime with us all.
Saturday - Hockey…followed by a crisp Pinot Grigio. Sunday - Rest Day. Monday - Cheeky Cider or 2. Tuesday - Hockey training. Wednesday - Chilean Sauvignon Blanc. Thursday - White Zinfandel. Friday - Sambuca
Dawdles is a role model to us all! We salute you.

Just like Katie, HD (as we like to call her) can often be found supporting her beloved football team, fortunately for Katie she supports the mighty LA Galaxy but for loyal HD it's the minnows of Chelsea she adores!
Just like Katie, HD has the appearance of an Angel, fluffier people you just couldn't find……or so HD would have you believe……inside that shell of angelicness lies the temper of a rottweiler and the vocabulary of a trooper! The opposition have fallen foul of the HD temper a number of times already this season and whilst she has seen Red, fortunately the Umpires have only given her a Green! Sarah's calming influence has definitely worked as HD has gone 2 whole games without a card!
Despite this HD is a real asset to the team, using her speed to great advantage in the middle of the pitch, always pressuring the oppo with her never say die attitude. She truly is one of a kind….Marcus our thoughts are with you!!! ;o)

Popular belief if very rarely right, but in Liz's case it definitely is! She is quite frankly as mad as a box of frogs….
Lily and Liz have numerous likenesses, both are very athletic, both share a striking resemblance and both are LOST in a place far far away……as are a number of Liz's belongings as she rarely arrives home in possession of everything she left with!
We are lucky however, to have Liz, our trainee doctor, on the team. When she's not scaring opposition defenders with her lightning pace she can be found in front of the T.V revising for her exams with back to back episodes of Holby City! We are in Safe hands at Croydon HC.

If you know our calm and quiet vice-captain Helen (Pammy) Anderson you'd be forgiven for not recognising any immediate similarity between herself and the spotlight hungry calfornian. Yet both do charity work, for example Pammy sometimes passes the ball when in on goal. Both dream of popularity be it via P.O.M votes or FHM polls. Finally, our Pammy shares her namesake's unique taste for clothing, as illustrated by her beloved training outfit comprising a natty stripy socks and shorts combo.
But still there are some fundamental differences for which we're ever so grateful; Pammy never runs on any pitch in slow motion nor has she ever turned up to the pitch in a red swim suit…yet!

Jen has returned to Croydon following a gap of a year and has recently discovered muscles she'd forgotten she had! Jen shares more than a passing resemblance to Winona, and this may explain why on a number of occasions when perusing clothes in CREW and Fat Face, security guards have shown more than a keen interest…..!!
Fortunately for the team, unlike Winona, Jen wasn't named after her place of birth…..Hereford Hall just wouldn't have worked and the team are more than happy to welcome her back, adding her calm influence and solid tackling to the team once again…oh and the delightful aroma of deep heat!!

Monica Geller talks rather fast and is without doubt very organised. She likes to keep her house "just so", and after all, why shouldn't she. If you were to try and think of someone who was similar to Monica you'd find it didn't take long to place them. It may be a rumour, but it has been said that Netty would never leave her car parked without the wheels perfectly straight. Netty is an invaluable member of Croydon hockey club and without her organisational skills including the sorting of lifts, many of us wouldn't have played quite as often as we have. When you turn up
nervous for the first time her friendly chatter is most welcoming for like Monica, Netty's heart is always in the right place.

Annalie & Liv are 2 peas in a pod! Both are mothers, both have long flowing black hair, both are very tall and both come from a land far away……although saying that South Africa just isn't as far as Lothlorien the land of the elves!
It has to be said that Annalie is a hockey addict, and whilst she stopped playing at least a week before the birth of beautiful Brooke, rumour has it that during labour Annalie could be heard extolling the benefits of the 5-3-2 formation to the midwife and Plums!
We are blessed indeed to see Annalie return and we know that come rain or shine Annalie will be there…. Snow on the other hand she's not so keen on but even this doesn't stop her, 2 pairs of gloves, thermals and a big woolly hat and she's ready, the oppo be warned, with her silky skills Croydon are always a threat. Welcome back Annalie!

Mrs Plums (the wife of Mr Plums) is winning the "Best Chocolate Cake" award hands down at the moment...fresh, not too dry, not too moist and a rich chocolatey icing...those who were lucky enough to sample it gave it top marks!

With baking of this quality on hand it's safe to say that Mr Plums' new athletic look might just be here to stay!

Come on ladies...who will challenge Mrs Plums for top spot of the "2009 Croydon Club Chocolate Cake Cooking Competition"? (CCCCCC for short)
